Overview:
Wetstuff is here to provide you with training, racing and charter opportunities from our Gosport base. Whether you are an experienced sailor, or looking to "learn the ropes" from scratch we can help you get more out of your time afloat.
Our training boat is Prime Evil - a Sigma 400. Designed as a fast, comfortable cruise/racer by Rob Humphreys, and one of only 25 built. Probably one of the best equipped charter yachts around, she comes with roller-reefing genoa, slab-reefed main, radar, 2 chart plotters, storm jib and trisail, auto-inflate lifejackets, and EPIRB. Not only is she well equipped, but her performance will see you sailing long after others have put the engine on.
In addition to RYA courses, we have developed a selection of specialist courses such as Heavy Weather Sailing, and Sail Handling. We also run cruises further afield, together with racing opportunities such as the world famous Fastnet and Round The Island Races. Charters are also catered for with Prime Evil and Trouble Maker, our Bavaria 34 both available bareboat or skippered.

Our Staff

Our Sailing Director and Chief Instructor is John. He started sailing while in the Army in 1987 and since then has sailed boats ranging from Optimists right up to square-riggers and ocean-racers. Having sailed in the Baltic, the Med, the Canaries and Trans-Atlantic in addition to UK waters, his experiences together with a "safety first, fun second" approach to teaching will help to ensure you get as much as possible out of your time with us. Much of his time afloat has involved training of one sort or another. Previous clients have ranged from blue-chip companies, such as Sony, to individuals looking to expand their sailing horizons, and participants in both the Challenge Business and Clipper Around the World Races. His career has seen him working for outdoor education centres in Kent and Wales, Garmin - world leaders in GPS navigation systems, and for RYA training schools in the UK, Gibraltar and Canaries. Now running Wetstuff he continues to be called upon by other organisations including Clipper Ventures, organisers of the amateur around the world race. In addition to running RYA courses, John also skippers the majority of our long distance cruises, and our bi-annual Fastnet campaign. He is also available to provide coaching on your own boat. Other carefully selected staff will be used as appropriate to help us meet your needs.

Accommodation:
Accommodation is on board Prime Evil. She has two double cabins, one with en-suite heads, a two bunk cabin, plus two singles in the saloon. With a maximum of 4 students on our 5 day courses this ensures plenty of space for all on board.
About the area:
Wetstuff runs the full range of practical RYA Offshore Sailing courses all year round from our Gosport base. This offers quick access to the Solent proper and the sheltered waters of historic Portsmouth Harbour on the rare occasions that the weather prevents us from venturing out. From Gosport you are within easy reach of Southampton, the Isle of Wight, Poole, Weymouth and Chichester as well as exploring some of the beautiful anchorages for example Newtown Creek
How to Get Here:
We are based at Royal Clarence Marina, off Weevil Lane, Gosport. There is plenty of free parking for those of you driving down, while those coming down by train need to jump on the short ferry from Portsmouth Harbour to Gosport before a short taxi ride or 15 minute walk to the marina.
