Beginner to advanced RYA sailing courses in Turkey, Europe

In 1996 Portway Turkey established a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recognised sea school in Göcek. The school offers a full range of sailing courses from 'Competent Crew' though to 'Coastal Skipper' (non-tidal).

Our courses have proved to be very popular with guests who wish to learn to sail or maybe improve their sailing skills before taking family and friends on sailing holidays.

Our sailing courses are run throughout the summer season from March through to the end of November. Individuals or groups are welcome. All sea school pupils sleep on board the boat during the week long course. Evening meals are eaten ashore at restaurants in the beautiful bays or pretty towns where the seas school boats anchor or moor each evening.

Our sailing courses begin on a Monday evening and finish the following Monday morning. During your week there will be ample opportunity for swimming, snorkeling and even water skiing in some of the bays (at additional cost).

Certificates are awarded at the end of the week to those pupils who meet all the requirements of the courses. All our sailing courses follow the RYA syllabus.

We never teach more than 5 pupils to 1 instructor. We accept individuals onto our scheduled courses, but will also arrange a sea school course for the exclusive use of your party if required at an attractive price. Each year we receive a lot of bookings from families as well as groups of friends who want sea school boats to themselves.

Gocek Sea School is a a part of Portway Yacht Charters Göcek, who in turn is a fully bonded member of the Yacht Charter Association (YCA). This not only ensures the financial security of any money you pay for your holiday but also that our yachts will be equipped to the YCA requirements. We are also a member of the British Marine Industries Federation (BMIF), the Natioanl Federation of Sea Schools (NFSS).

We specialise in bareboat yacht charters and skippered yacht charters from our base in Gocek, Turkey. We also operate an officially recognised RYA sea school offering a range of courses suitable for beginners to the most advanced.

Your accommodation for the week is on board your sail training yacht.

Sunny skies, warm turquoise waters, cooling breezes, deserted anchorages and tranquil bays. This is what you will find as you sail in the waters in and around our cruising area of Gocek, on the southern coast of Turkey.

The Mediterranean climate of southern Turkey offers visitors sunshine and clear, blue skies almost every day from April to November. The coastline is a mixture of wide gulfs, peaceful coves, shady beaches, uninhabited islands, small villages and bustling towns. Many of these locations are still only accessible by boat - truly a yachtsman's paradise with constant and predictable winds offering ideal sailing conditions for both the novice and the experienced sailor alike. You will be welcomed wherever you go and shown genuine, traditional hospitality. Turkish people adore young children and go out of their way to give them special attention. Communication is not a problem as most people speak adequate English.

Our sea school is based in Gocek, a beautiful village only 25 minutes from Dalaman International Airport. We can of course arrange transfers from the airport to where your boats will be moored.
