Overview:
Club Yachting is an experienced family business run by Andy, Janet and the rest of the team (and not forgetting Viva of course) which focuses on putting you first. As an RYA approved training centre we offer the full range of Tidal RYA Sailing courses on our selection of well maintained sail yachts.
We are based in the small Spanish town of Las Galletas, close to the airport (for those all important transfers) but a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas of Los Chritianos, Las Americas and Los Gigantes.
With winter sunshine (daytime temperatures in the mid 20's)and temperate summers (rising to the high 20's, with low humidity) we are located in a great all round destination. To take advantage of the great weather Competent Crew, Day Skipper (Tidal) and Coastal Skipper (Tidal) are run over six full days every week of the year, and Yachtmaster preparation and exams are run every other week.
Our sailing area tends to be around the Western Canary Islands usually spending the week in La Gomera and sometimes covering places such as: Gran Canaria, La Palma and El Hierro. Unlike other sailing schools, we usually next see our home marina when we return six days later at around 5pm. You can then relax on this your last evening. The next morning you can make use of the facilities of the pretty Marina del Sur, before we take you back to the airport.
Club Yachting is run by Andrew Williams (an RYA Sail, Motor and Powerboat Examiner, and also Advanced Powerboat Instructor, Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor for Motor and Sail), and his Chief Instructor Mike Stewart (also a Yachtmaster Instructor for Sail and Motor) and his team ensuring that we have the right experienced instructors to suit you.
As members of the British Marine Federation and Marine Leisure Association, as well as being inspected by the RYA, you can rest assured that our yachts are maintained to the highest standards and have the protection of the only UK trade association, endorsed by The Trading Standards Institute, for training, charter and holidays. Your course normally starts with a safety briefing on the first evening, followed by some free time to allow you to settle in and enjoy dinner. The following morning we complete the safety briefing and then set sail.

Why Club Yachting?

Running our courses over six full days with an Instructor client ratio of 4:1 (or 3:1 with Exclusive Club) gives you plenty of time to learn and consolidate, and your own cabin at night helps ensure a restful night sleep.
We offer the full range of RYA Tidal Sailing courses: “Classic Courses” on our Bavaria 36 as well as our “Club Class” – a spacious Hanse 400e, a pair of Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 39i’s and a Sun Odyssey 40, a Sun Odyssey 45.2, Dufour 455 and our fast Prima 38 - we will have a boat to suit you. All our yachts are commercially registered in Spain (and therefore fully insured for Spanish waters) and come equipped with all the safety equipment one would expect from a modern RYA Recognised Training Centre.

Accommodation:
Your 6 day RYA approved course will be held on one of our fully equipped and well maintained yachts, complete with 7 nights accommodation on your yacht. They are all fully fitted out: with three double cabins, and fully equipped with hot showers. Clients often ask us for ideas on where they can stay after the have completed their RYA course or charter. Suggestions for accommodation include: Ten Bell Apartments – close to our marina with a large pool this is a cost effective option; Parador Hotel de Canadas del Teide - the hotel is the only building inside the Teide Nature Reserve and inside the crater of an extinct volcano; TUI group hotels – a wide selection of rooms throughout the island We sometimes have accommodation available on one of our yachts for the odd night – contact us for availability.
About the area:
All practical courses are run from Marina del Sur on Tenerife, and all shorebased courses from our purpose designed classroom adjacent to the marina. Tenerife is the largest island of the archipelago which is the Canary Islands. The Island extends over 2.057 square kilometers and the main geographical feature is Mount Teide which is the highest in Spain. The climate in the south is dry and warm all the year round (it does not suffer from the humidity of the Mediterranean) . Tenerife is quite a large island (it takes over an hour by motorway to drive to the north for example), and there are lots of things to do: whether its driving up Mount Teide (Spain’s highest mountain at 3800m), going to the wine museum, Europe’s largest water park or just sitting by the pool.
How to Get Here:
The Island is served by two airports, one in the north, Los Rodeos, and another in the south, Reina Sofía. We offer a free transfer service for the short journey from Reina Sofía (no long taxi journeys or expensive ferry fares). Have a look at www.skyscanner.net for flight ideas.
