Yachting > Greece
It includes:
* 5-day RYA Competent Crew course
* 2-day RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship course
* 5-day RYA Day Skipper Non-tidal Practical course
This means that, in one two-week holiday, most people can get to Day Skipper level. A number of countries now also require you to have a radio operator's licence when you charter and it's possible to add a 1-day radio course on at the end of the package (but we thought a 13-day package sounded unlucky!)
DATES:
We are taking bookings for the following dates but others may be available on request:
- Sunday 1 April - Friday 13 April
- Sunday 13 May - Friday 25 May
- Sunday 24 June - Friday 6 July
You move to a hotel for Friday and Saturday night giving you the opportunity to relax with a comfortable bed and shower. Saturday and Sunday are spent studying the RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship course to gain the theory you will need to know as a skipper.
On Sunday evening you will move back on board to start the RYA Day Skipper practical course. During the second week you will be expected to take charge of the yacht for part of the time. You may revisit some of the ports you sailed to as crew but normally you would also go to new places. You return to Aegina by 17:30 on Friday.
You are welcome to stay on board on the final night or we can help you book a hotel room.
Those who successfully complete each part of the course will be awarded the appropriate certificate for that part of the course.
It does not include flights, transfers, personal travel insurance, or evening meals.
There are normally good sailing conditions, sheltered from very high winds, and many pretty ports and anchorages for you to enjoy, from famous islands such as Hydra to secluded bays well off the beaten track.
Many people combine their sailing holiday with a visit to Athens, where you can visit archaeological sites, wonderful museums and galleries, as well as modern buildings like the 2004 Olympic stadium. For those who like history this is the place to come! During your time with us we'll take you to the ancient theatre at Epidauros and the temple of Aphaia on our own island.
An airport bus leaves from immediately outside the Arrivals Hall to Piraeus, the port of Athens, where you'll find numerous ferries and hydrofoils running from Piraeus to our island base of Aegina - a short sea journey, only 40 mins by hydrofoil.
You'll spend your first night in a real Greek island atmosphere, not in a big marina or tourist hotspot.
