Overview:

Sail Ionian is a family run RYA training centre offering expert tuition for all levels of experience. Our courses are taught by very experienced, professional and friendly instructors on new, well maintained and fully equipped yachts. We offer the full range of RYA courses, specialising in the RYA Start Yachting, RYA Competent Crew and RYA Day Skipper. Informal training is also available with flotillas and assisted sailing from May to October.

RYA Training is available all year around, for everyone including complete novices. If you and your crew would like to be qualified, and are mixed abilities, we are happy to teach different sailing courses on the same yacht. Our courses are personalised to meet the needs and expectations of you and your crew. With a maximum of four per course, this gives time for individual tuition and attention to all on board. We ensure a relaxed and informal approach from our instructors. Situated in an ideal area to learn both sailing and boat handling, we aim to provide a unique, extremely valuable and fun learning experience.

Families, Couples and Friends

Why not combine a sailing holiday with one of our 5 day RYA sail training courses. You and your group will receive bespoke instruction from one of our instructors for the duration of the course and depending on its sucess are able to take the boat without a skipper for the rest of your sailing holiday. This gives you the chance to practice as a team of sailors and really build your confidence. If you and your crew would like to be qualified and are mixed abilities, we are happy to teach different courses on the same yacht.

Accommodation:

For the duration of your course you'll be sleeping on board the yacht which will be one of our new Bavaria's. You can either opt for a cabin on one of our Bavaria 38 - 40 foot training yachts with up to 4 other people sharing the same yacht (and the instructor) or you can charter a yacht to yourselves and the instructor will join you on board for the duration of your training. After your training you can sail yourselves.

About the area:

Our yachts sail between Corfu in the North and Zakinthos in the South. Most our charter yachts tend to sail around the southern Ionian. The area includes the Islands of Skorpios, Meganissi, Kalamos, Kastos, Arkudi, Atokos, Dragoneras, Ithaca, Cefalonia and the mainland harbours of Paleros, Myticas and Astakcos. We will email advice on places to visit before your holiday and also suggest route plans and our favourite spots on arrival arrival in Greece.

We are based on the island of Lefkas in Vilho bay, 40 minutes driving from Preveza airport, situated ideally for both North and South Ionian sailing areas.

Short sailing distances between the many good anchorages make the Ionian ideal for both beginners and seasoned sailors. Most harbours are less than one nautical mile apart with maximum distance between islands being 10 miles.
