Overview:
Sailing School Brittany is a privately owned and run RYA recognised Sailing School offering a comprehensive range of practical and shorebased sailing courses and sail cruising experiences.

We are privileged to be located in the beautiful temperate southern coast of Brittany, with a fantastic cruising area of the 'Golfe du Morbihan', the ‘Baie de Quiberon’, the beautiful islands of ‘Belle-Ile’, ‘Houat’ and ‘Hoëdic’.

It is a pleasure to discover the calm of the ‘Golfe', an area which has been described as one of the most beautiful bays in the world and a fantastic sailors’ playground. Southern Brittany lives to the rhythm of the tides and the changing winds.

It offers something for all tastes, unequalled Breton scenery, picturesque harbours, cruising in protected bays, delightful, peaceful anchorages and with the opportunity for some challenging pilotage and to confront the ocean for some adventurous offshore sailing.

About the area:
The ‘Golfe du Morbihan’ is an inland sea dotted with around 40 small islands and as many deserted and extraordinary anchorages, making navigation fun but interesting. It’s sheltered from the Atlantic Ocean by the peninsula of Rhuys.

Vannes, a fortified Breton town at the top of the ‘Golfe’ offers a range of restaurants and the atmosphere of a typical Breton city.

The Auray River leads to the small port of Bono, which offers the calmest of shelters in the heart of nature with a history of oyster farming.

The Baie de Quiberon is very well-protected from all directions and as such offers great cruising with numerous anchorages.

‘Belle-Ile’ – “Beautiful Island” – is the largest island; it is a bit further afield, beyond the Teignouse pass. It offers many picturesque anchorages, Ster Wen and Port Kerel are found on the ‘côte sauvage' – ‘the savage coast’ – and are two of the most beautiful anchorages in Southern Brittany, some say France. The island of Houat or the smaller and more isolated Hoëdic offer spectacular beaches beautiful unspoilt anchorages and plenty of flora and fauna.

Lorient, La Trinité sur Mer, the Golfe du Morbihan are names renowned in the world of ocean racing and regattas. Lorient and La Trinité sur Mer remain the ports for multihulls and the starting point of many races.
