Learn to Sail in NZ with Elements Watersports

Sailing Courses:
Whether you want to be a useful crew member, a more experienced skipper wanting to expand your skills, or you require an RYA certificate to charter or work abroad, Elements can put you through a range of RYA sail cruising courses.

Elements can offer you a series of practical courses, complemented by navigation and other specialist short courses too. You can use them simply to increase your knowledge and confidence, or as a progression to the RYA/MCA Certificates of Competence which are recognised by maritime authorities worldwide.

The ideal introduction is the 5 day Competent Crew course, run either over two consecutive weekends or as a 5 day course.

You can enter the RYA programme at any level, provided that you have the correct level of experience beforehand. Be realistic when assessing your current experience and abilities and, if in doubt, discuss your requirements with us before booking your course.

Additionally we are accredited to run Yachting New Zealand (YNZ) keelboat sailing courses. Learn to sail for Keelboats can be taught over weekends either from our base in Tauranga or Auckland. Level 1, an introduction to keel boating and level 2, competent cruising are generally completed together in approx 30 hours

Elements is also proud to be accredited to Coastguard Boating Education allowing us to provide an array of Theory courses that compliment our on the water practical coaching sessions and courses.

From Day skipper to Boatmaster, both also now available as home study packs, to Coastal skipper, Ocean Yachtmaster and Marine VHF, Elements can coach you through the coastguard theory courses necessary for your complete confidence on the water.

Location & How to Find Us:
Elements Watersports offers sailing courses from both Tauranga and Auckland. In Tauranga our base is at Kulim Park on the inner harbour opposite Matakana Island whilst in Auckland, our yachts depart from our base at Westhaven Marina and our small boats and windsurfing courses run from the beautiful beach of Torbay on Aucklands North shore. Elements also has a mobile unit for powerboat and Jetski courses, dinghy and windsurf coaching.

Location Tauranga
A short flight from Auckland domestic airport to Tauranga will bring you to the wonderful bay of plenty. Tauranga has plenty and a good variety of accommodation and Elements Watersports base is within easy 10 minute drive from the main city centre and only 15 minutes from Mount Maunganui. Elements Watersports base is situated on the inner harbour at Kulim Park in Matua, easily located by looking out for our White Shed on the waters edge and lots of activity in the park.

Location Auckland
Elements bases in Auckland are just a short 30 and 45 minute hop from the international airport. Elements Yacht courses in Auckland run from our base in Westhaven Marina, just 20 mins walking distance from the viaduct harbour and city centre and right in the centre of the hauraki gulf.

Elements dinghy, power boating and windsurfing run from our location on the beautiful north shore beach of Torbay, head north over the harbour bridge and simple follow the signs for Torbay which will lead you to Torbay Yacht club and beach. Because Elements small boating courses are also mobile we can come to you! so no matter where you are in NZ we can arrange to teach you in your own back yard.
