Sailing Courses:
At Alfer Sea School all courses are taken on board one of our two matched Sun Fast 37s which have been extensively modified by Jeanneau agents to enhance the stiffness of the yacht, thus enabling Alfer to safely teach in heavy weather conditions. They are both category 2 coded for six people with the RYA, and equipped with the highest standard of safety equipment.
Alfer believes that an effective learning environment centres around the clients' confidence in their instructors, the boat and the equipment
. Because of this belief Alfer has ensured that the vessels, and the equipment carried, exceed the recommendations for a category 2 coding. Their vessels also carry a full complement of sails, comprising of No's 1,2 and 3 headsails, storm jib, tri-sail and deep reefed main.
Alfer is unique in their ability to instruct their clients in both the use of furling sails, and the more traditional manner of how to change sails whilst underway. Another of Alfer's philosophies is that, "the more you know, the easier it gets", as you are able to appreciate the common denominators.
Alfer intends to teach you how to sail efficiently as well as how to cruise enjoyably.

Company Overview:
Alfer Sea School was formed in 2003 by two enthusias
tic and professional Yachtmaster instructors. Alfer aims to epitomise the ethos of the Royal Yachting Association Cruising Scheme, at an overseas venue. The primary goals are twofold; to provide sail training that is second to none, and to ensure that their clients thoroughly enjoy their experience. Alfer appreciates the breadth of the RYA syllabi and the diversity of their clients' needs. To this end they endeavour to provide bespoke training without compromise, and to maintain the highest standards of customer care.
As Yachtmaster instructors they have extensive knowledge of the skills necessary to cruise safely, efficiently and enjoyably. When this is combined wi
th their extensive teaching experience and enthusiasm for the sport of sailing they are able not only to impart the knowledge, but also the love of sailing unto others.
Alan Robinson, Principal of Alfer, was born in Gibraltar and spent 10 years sailing the local area, before moving to Southern Spain where he has lived and sailed for the last 15 years. He has a wide range of experience with both power and sail, from 16 to 152 foot. Alan has sailed in the Mediterranean as far as Malta and Tunisia, the English Channel, Biscay, Gulf de Leon and the French coast. In total he has amassed over 30,000 miles at sea, and has extensive knowledge of the local area.
