Sailing Courses with Sailing School Croatia

The Sailing Yachts:
We use Bavaria 11.5 m Sail cruising yachts, comfortable for the new crew and ideal for skipper trainees where confidence in boat handling under power and sail can be built quickly. The training ratio for RYA Sea Schools is up to 5 students plus one instructor. Couples, Groups and Families can book from 2 to 5 (plus instructor) on board if they wish. Families are very welcome and can also book as just a great sailing holiday, and anyone can book refresher weeks or Just Crew without tuition!

The Two School Bases:
We are now operating 6 day courses from 2 bases in two separate but equally naturally beautiful areas on the Dalmatian Coast. Both are close by the main airports of Zadar and Split, with excellent road and ferry and train connections from anywhere. Split base (Agana) starts Sunday (ends Saturday) and Zadar base starts Thursday (ends Wednesday), both begin and end at 0930. National Park visits can be arranged.

The Instructors:
We use only our regular team of mature British instructors ,very experienced and enthusiastic about their island area - all are fully qualified and more importantly know how to teach patiently but provide a really safe and fun atmosphere for both learning and relaxing afterwards! The language use for all courses is in English.

The Typical Week:
On board at 0930 we give you a briefing on living aboard the boat and a full safety information , once settled in we leave to find a pleasant lunchtime bay for a swim ! Each day you will find yourself in a new island harbour and the days training always includes a generous stop for lunch and swimming. We are tied up usually by 6pm and enjoying sundowners and showers, then you are free again to explore ashore. Dinner /drinks can be taken together or separately - it’s your holiday time and we will leave this to the crew to decide …but we usually enjoy a very sociable evening together!

The endless choice of bays and harbours to visit , and different wind directions means that no two weeks’ routes are the same - so the instructor is free to shape a daily itinerary to suit the crew, the mix of courses and weather . All the crew takes part in the running of the ship during the day including meal prep and chores - this is an essential, rewarding and fun way of learning to live together on board.

We return to base on the final evening at 1730 and after washing down one last sundowner and evening meal together. The week finishes after breakfast the following morning and final clean up and debrief at 0930 when RYA certificates will be issued.
