Island Watersports is located on the island of Lanzarote, the most northerly of the 7 Canary Islands and is on the same latitude as Florida and the Red Sea. Situated approximately 95 kms off the west coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, we enjoy a sub-tropical climate which allows year round boating activities and also provides a perfect holiday destination for the whole family.

As one of over 2,000 RYA Training Centres located throughout the world, Island Watersports Lanzarote is proud to have attained the required accreditation to offer high quality tuition of a range of RYA courses. RYA qualifications are highly regarded and emulated worldwide in both the recreational and commercial spheres of boating.

Island Watersports' principal and owner, Norman Sparrow, has over 35 years experience in powerboating areas and looks forward to welcoming you 'on board' for an enjoyable and fun-filled course.

Our boat is a Valiant 7.5 metre RIB powered by a Volvo Penta D3 160 h.p. inboard diesel engine, and is fully equipped with VHF DSC radio and GPS/Plotter/Sounder. First-aid and oxygen kits are always carried on board. The boat is conveniently berthed just 40 metres from our watersports centre in Puerto Calero Marina.

Company Overview:
Island Watersports Lanzarote is a RYA recognised Powerboat Training Centre operating from Puerto Calero Marina on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Spain.

In addition to the powerboat courses, we are a BS-AC Premier and Seamanship Centre (No.312) and a PADI Dive Centre (S-798261) offering a wide range of courses from introductory dives for the absolute beginner, internationally recognised BS-AC and PADI courses for those starting out, and a variety of more advanced courses for qualified divers wishing to further their diving experience.

The first class facilities in the centre include: changing area with hot showers and toilet, personal equipment storage, and equipment wash and hang area.

Lanzarote, situated approximately 95kms off the west coast of North Africa, is a volcanic island rising out of the deep Atlantic Ocean. It is the most northerly of the 7 Canary Islands and is on the same latitude as Florida and the Red Sea. Lanzarote benefits from a sub-tropical climate with more days of sunshine and fewer days of rain than the other Canary Islands.

Being a volcanic island, the landscape is both dramatic and contrasting and offers the visitor a wide variety of interesting sights by day and night. Only about 45kms long and around 18kms at its widest point, the island is famous for its lunar landscape of almost 300 volcanoes. Views of volcanic mountains, picon covered fields and rocky coastlines are broken up by a large number of golden sandy beaches and an amazing amount of well attended greenery and agriculture. The island has been designated by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.

Flights to Lanzarote are available from a number of international and regional airports within the UK, with a typical flight time of 4 hours. We are able to offer you a variety of nearby accommodation options from studio apartments to 3 bedroom villas with a pool.

Puerto Calero Marina is easily accessed by road, 10 minutes drive from Puerto del Carmen, 30 minutes from Costa Teguise and 25 minutes from Playa Blanca. Ample car parking is available, and the marina is also adequately served by taxis and buses. A wide selection of restaurants, bars and shops are to be found in the marina, making it a great location to spend the day, have lunch and browse. Non-boating partners will love it as well! With two top quality hotels on our doorstep (5 Star Hesperia Lanzarote and 4 Star Iberostar Costa Calero), Puerto Calero has become a top holiday resort in it's own right.

• A maximum of 3 candidates will be catered for on each course.
