Have windsurf board... will travel! We've seen boards at airport check-in desks, on trains, tops of buses... even on the underground. Windsurfing is popular, fun, doesn't have to cost the earth and is eminently 'portable'.

It is an unbelievable sport - you get to harness the power of the wind but with all the excitement normally associated with surfing. Being in complete control of where you go and how you use the wind is a great feeling, and with a windsurf board you're going to be so close to the elements as to have an exhilerating time. Even so, it can be the most relaxing of sports allowing you to completely forget the woes of work etc...

You don't need to be a body builder to be good at windsurfing - it's not about sheer bulk but rather how you shift your weight and use the wind. In terms of shifting your weight it has similarities to martial arts where you see people throwing people twice their size - it's technique, not raw power that counts. So calling all women out there - take the reins and have a go! You've got a better than even chance of being better than the guys!

The RYA offer two sets of syallabus for windsurfing - Adult and Youth. Adult courses are for those of 16 years of age and over.
