RYA Motor training lessons from Ramsgate, Kent near London

We are an RYA recognised Practical and Theory Sea School based at Ramsgate in Kent -- 14 miles North of Dover on the Southern tip of the Thames Estuary in the South East of the United Kingdom. We have been teaching for over 30 years now and an RYA recognised sea school since 1987.

We can do Own Boat Tuition anywhere it is required and we do Yacht & Motorcruiser Deliveries worldwide. Our skippers are all RYA DoT qualified with Commercial Endorsements. Our Delivery teams can deliver your Yacht or Motorcruiser anywhere in the UK, Europe or the world. Tuition can be given to owners and/or their crews during deliveries if required

Our RYA Theory school and office is in a large 18th century thatched cottage in the middle of Ramsgate and 800 metres from its Royal Harbour and modern marina.

The school boats are the Pedro Dutch steel motor cruisers --

* "Sea Satin" 36ft Flybridge Pedro
* "Gallivant" a 36ft twin engined Pedro (see top left)
* "Aegean Blue" a 33ft twin engined aft cockpit Pedro. (see top left)

Prices for the practical courses are based on a day rate of £120.00 per person plus VAT @ 20% (£144.00). This includes use of the boat, your instructor, food and accommodation onboard. You can select the number of days you require or split your course over weekends and rest days if you wish. We operate all year.

The course start dates are selected by the first person to book a period, and they can start on any day of the week. Most courses are based on a 5 day - 3 day - 2 day periods. Exam days can be booked as an extra day at the end of a course. RYA course certificates are awarded on successful completion of the course programme. We do need time to arrange for an RYA Examiner and set up exam dates.

If required we can supply accommodation at our shore base which is also where all theory courses are run from. Alternatively there is a wide variety available in Ramsgate itself.

DIRECTIONS
By Plane
From Gatwick - Stansted - Luton or Heathrow airports. From these airports go by train to London, then

By Train to Ramsgate via --
London Victoria or London Charing Cross or London Waterloo East or London Bridge.
All these stations are either on or connected to the main line which comes via Rochester and Faversham (sometimes you will have to change at Faversham) to Ramsgate or via Ashford & Canterbury to Ramsgate. From Ramsgate station it is a short taxi ride to the theory school and office at 12 Vale Square.

By Road the main routes are the M2 or the M20
The M2 motorway runs down the south side of the River Thames and can be accessed from the M25 on the south side of the Dartford bridge/tunnel or the A2 from London.

Follow the motorway to its end. Do not turn off for Dover, continue on the A299 following the signs to Herne Bay and Ramsgate .

The M20 is joined from the M25 via the M26 turning for Maidstone and Dover. When on the M20 look for the A249 turning on the Maidstone bypass section. (sign posted to Sheerness and Ramsgate). The A249 takes you to the M2 and then to Ramsgate.

On the outskirts of Ramsgate follow the road to the town centre. Vale Square is the turning on the left just before the TOTAL petrol site (on the zebra crossing). We are the thatched cottage on the right hand side about 200 mtrs into the square.
