Combine coastal cruising in the Hebrides with a visit to the Shetland Islands/Faroe Islands, an ocean crossing of 500 nm across the Arctic Ocean and intricate fjord sailing along the stunningly beautiful coast of Norway.
This is a fantastic ocean adventure with lots of open water sailing all in 24 hour daylight. We allocate 14 days sailing for this adventure giving us time to day sail and explore islands as well as experiencing watch systems for longer periods at sea. This trip is a terrific opportunity to gain over 1000nm for your log book.

We start our trip from Dunstaffnage marina in NW Scotland and head north through the Hebrides towards Cape Wrath and then onwards to Norway. We aim to break the journey by stopping in either Torshavn in the Faroe Islands or Lerwick in the Shetland Islands. The scenery of both these island groups is spectacular with sheer cliffs rising up from the sea. Many of these cliffs will be full of seabirds in early June as we make our landfall. After a day spent exploring we will continue past the outlying islands and on towards the Norwegian coastline.

From Faroe/Shetland north we will have 24 hour daylight. As we approach Norway majestic mountains rise from the sea and these are interlaced with sheltered fjords. We cross the Arctic circle and enter the land of the midnight sun. Our first stop will be Holandsfjorden, from the end of this spectacular fjord we can stretch our legs and walk to the Svartisen Glacier, skirting a lake of icy melt water.

We continue north from here through the islands to our summer base Bodo, and keep our eye out for White Tailed Eagles on the way.
We have been thrilled on recent passages to see Minke Whales and 5 Orca as well as lots of dolphins, fingers crossed for this year.
