Activity Yachting Holidays
|
|
|
This is our most popular holiday for either the total beginner wanting
an introduction to sailing or the competent crew/dinghy sailor wishing
to improve their sailing and navigation and getting either their
first skippering certificate, or an International Certificate of
Competence. Courses run from April to October and flight exclusive prices start from under £250 per person per week in early April, plus an on site cash payment of £50pp to cover yacht costs. All of our holidays can be booked either with or without flights.
A weeks tuition (International Yachtmaster Training,
not RYA) combined with a second week either taking your own yacht
on flotilla, spending it ashore in pre arranged accommodation with
day sailing, or doing your own thing, are all very popular follow on
options.
On one of our Learn to Sail Holidays you'll spend
one or two weeks living on a yacht with other students and the instructor.
These yachts are known as our training yachts, and are generally
also the lead boat(s) of the Flotilla,
which ensures an enjoyable, fun holiday. As you are part of the
flotilla there is a good social side, especially in the evenings
when everyone meets up for a cold drink or two. Families with young
children are not mixed with others on the same yacht, but singles
or couples are mixed accordingly. What we offer is a comprehensive
training course, without forgetting that this is your holiday. Daily
distances on the live-aboard course are relatively short and we
are usually moored up for the day by mid/late afternoon. We normally
anchor in a secluded bay for lunch and a swim.
These training weeks are ideal for combining with
a week ashore, a follow on week on flotilla skippering yourself
or some extra time just doing your own thing. This latter option
is particularly popular with singles and couples as they combine
the sailing with some island hopping, making for a very varied holiday.
From a training point of view, Activity Yachting
Holidays is an International Yachtmaster Training recognised teaching
establishment, and we teach their recreational programme up to Bareboat
skipper. We can also assess for International Certificates of Competence
(ICC) for Irish or UK nationals or residents, for anybody interested
in gaining one of these licences.
