Assisted Bareboat Charters

Sailing Courses:
Assisted Bareboat Charters are a registered IYT Partnership School. We teach their recreational programme, from International Crew to Bareboat Skipper. We also offer assessments for ICCs for UK and Irish nationals. This certificate is recognised by the Marine Coastguard Agency (MCA).

Whether you require an introduction to yachting, a crewing certificate or, for those with some sailing experience, a skippers’ certificate or ICC, we can offer any of these options while aboard the lead yacht in a flotilla environment in the ideal surroundings of the southern Ionian Sea, Greece.

The climate here in the Ionian makes it a perfect environment to learn to sail; no tides, plenty of sun and consistently more constant weather.

Following the syllabus laid down by the IYT, the tuition is designed to be informal and relaxed, providing time for a lunchtime swim and some time just to relax and soak up some sun if you wish. The choice is yours.

The IYT recreational syllabus is a modular system, which offers a flexible approach to training. Most people can be brought up to an International Crew level within a week. Those with previous experience can be assessed quickly and brought up to skipper level if appropriate. If not, they may be assessed up to whichever module they have achieved, and complete the skipper training at a later date. There is no pressure. The courses are not about ‘pass or fail’, everyone learns at a different rate. The courses are designed to introduce people to sailing, to further their own knowledge and experience and, above all, enjoy themselves while doing so. The certification should be thought of as a culmination of the above, not necessarily a means to an end. In addition, we do not forget that this is your holiday.

We are a small independent yacht charter and sail training company based on the island of Lefkas in the Ionian Sea, Greece. We operate an assisted bareboat programme, which offers a slightly different approach to the
traditional flotilla and bareboat concept. A balance between the two.

Location & How to Find Us:
The Ionian Sea offers an attractive environment in which to sail, regardless of your level of experience. The southern Ionian is often known as the cruising capital of the Mediterranean and especially of Greece.

In the southern Ionian, distances between islands are not too long and as they are close together, the sea remains reasonably flat as the wind picks up. The prevailing wind is from the northwest. Mornings are generally calm, perfect for learning; the wind tends to pick up in the afternoon, calming down in the early evening.

The islands offer small harbours and villages, varying in character from island to island, from small fishing hamlets only accessible by boat, to slightly larger villages that offer more facilities.
