Sailing Courses:
Welcome to the Spanish Lakes, 'the most extraordinary and most beautiful part of Andalucia', according to the authoritative and widely read Costa Life magazine. Get away from the beaches, the shops and the hustle and bustle of the coast and experience what the discerning and knowledgeable know already. Head half an hour inland to experience authentic Spanish culture and breath taking scenery.

Courses are run on a lake that offers reliable, safe, warm and 'flat' water conditions all year round; ideal for teaching and practice with easy access using a wide man made beach. Changing and toilet facilities are on site as well as a bar and café for essential lunchtime breaks. As a centre teaching according to the RYA syllabus, we are concentrating on running sailing courses to Royal Yachting Association (RYA) level 1 & 2 standards with some advanced modules. We do not issue RYDinghy sailing lessonsA certificates because the centre in Spain is not at present regulated. We can offer individual tuition on a one-to-one basis, two to one basis or in groups. The wind and water conditions are fantastic for learning so we have all the benefits of safe and reliable sailing without the cold of North Europe or the variances of the Mediterranean.

Course fees include boats, buoyancy aids, spray tops and wet suits, just bring your trainers, swimwear, clothing and hat for sun protection. Life jackets are available for non-swimmers. Morning and afternoon sessions are 3 hours. June to September 11 to 2pm and 5 to 8pm to allow for a long lunch and siesta at the Beach Club. October to May, 10 to 1pm and 2 to 5pm. We offer a range of accommodation from camping beside the lake at the Beach Club starting at €30 per night for a couple , The Hostel at the other side of the lake for €50 for a double room, a log cabin at the same location for €69, a lakeside bungalow for €55 and a full on luxury town house at the local golf estate for €135, again for a couple. Contact us to find out pricing on your preferred option. AVA use boats from 'LASER' including the Stratos and Pico for training along with Optimists and Cadets for younger visitors.

Company Overview:
Our AVA sailing centre offers safe, reliable and warm sailing conditions all year round with easy access to the water, good changing facilities, shaded recreational areas and the very best RYA trained instructors who understand the capabilities of people of all ages.

We use the Laser Stratos as the other training boat as it offers additional room to move about. AVA base their courses on the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) syllabus in parallel with the Real Federation Española de Vela, (Spanish Sailing
Federation) and aim to complement national training.

Location & How to Find Us:
Situated just 20 minutes drive from Jerez, the Sherry capital of the World and its International Airport (Ryanair) set halfway between open countryside and the mountains, crossed by the rivers Guadalete and Majaciete, Arcos de la Frontera and San Jose in the province of Cadiz, Southern Spain, are some of Europe's most beautiful towns.

Arcos de la Frontera, with origins in Arabic times, is one of the most notable examples of the 'White Villages' built on high cliffs and occupies the peak and slopes of a steep rocky crag cut by the action of the river Guadalete. The town itself varies, in its altitude, from 50 metres above the level of the river to over 195m at its highest point at the base of the castle and offers a splendid panorama of the surrounding countryside.
