Velvet Adventure Sailing operates adventure sailing holidays to unique and interesting destinations. All our holidays are organised and skippered by round the world yachtswoman Lin Parker, who has 20 years experience as a professional yacht skipper and is well accomplished at both introducing the new comer and coaching the more experienced.

Our adventures take place aboard our yacht Velvet Lady. She is a 55 foot sailing yacht built by Oyster of Ipswich. Oysters are world renowned for their comfort and security. Aboard Velvet Lady we take a maximum of six guests and have two crew members, this ensures that there will be plenty of space and that you will be well looked after.

What's included: There are no extras to pay once on board the yacht. The price includes: all meals; duvet, pillow, bedding and towels; use of safety equipment; use of breathable foul weather gear; yacht running expenses.

Prices do not include travel to and from the yacht or travel insurance.

Ocean Adventure - Lanzarote to Madeira - 26th Feb to 4th March - £650
Join us for a mini ocean adventure including 3 days of true ocean sailing on the passage north from Lanzarote in the Canary Islands to the beautiful emerald island of Madeira. This adventure combines some coastal cruising with a longer offshore passage. We will spend our first day sailing along the coast of Lanzarote and making an overnight stop at the beautiful island of La Graciosa. We then set off on a 2 to 3 day passage to sail 270nm across the Atlantic to Madeira. After spending the night at anchor in the deserted but scenic Baia de Abra at the eastern end of the island we will sail along the spectacular coastline to Funchal, our port of disembarkation. Madeira Adventure - 7th to 14th March - £795
Madeira – ‘the green pearl of the Atlantic’ is a lush green island situated in the Atlantic ocean between the Azores and the Canary islands. Warmed by the Gulf Stream the temperature rarely drops below 14 degrees in the winter. We can expect temperatures up to 18 degrees at the end of March. 30 nm to the North East of Madeira is the tiny island of Porto Santo, this island is famous for its 9km golden sandy beach. Ocean Adventure - Madeira to Azores - 17th to 26th March - £750
Join us for a mini ocean adventure including 5 days of true ocean sailing on the passage north from the beautiful emerald island of Madeira to San Miguel in the Azores Archipelago. This adventure combines some coastal cruising with a short ocean passage. We will spend our first day sailing along the spectacular coastline of Madeira and making an overnight stop at the deserted but beautiful anchorage in Baia de Abra. We then set off on a 5 day passage to sail 550nm across the Atlantic to Punta Delgada the capital of San Miguel in the Azores. Azores Island Hopping - 29th March - 5th April & 8th - 15th April - £695
The Azores are a group of 9 volcanic islands situated halfway between north America and Europe. Warmed by the Gulf Stream the temperature rarely drops below 14 degrees in the winter. We can expect temperatures up to 16 degrees at the end of March. Join us as we explore these magnificent islands each of which has its own special feel.

• Your trip will begin from the island of San Miguel, famous for the spectacular volcanic crater Sete Cidades
• Your trip will end at the island of Faial, renowned as the crossroads in the Atlantic for yachtsmen
• We will visit as many of the islands that time and weather allow
• We will allow plenty of time to walk ashore and visit volcanic craters
• We will spend evenings relaxing and enjoying the Portuguese laid back way of life
• Whilst on passage we will lookout for some of the many types of whales and dolphins that can be seen along these coastlines

The trip beginning 29th March embarks at Punta Delgada, disembarking at Horta whilst the April trip is the opposite.

Punta Delgada, Azores to Plymouth Ocean Passage - 19th April to 1st May - £995
Join us for some fantastic sailing as we head north east from Punta Delgada in the Azores back to Plymouth in UK. We will begin by sailing hard on the wind northwards until we meet the 'blustery westerlys' and then reach across the Atlantic Ocean for Plymouth 1150 nm away. Enquire...

Plymouth to Isafjord Ocean Passage - 16th May to 1 June - £995
A fantastic opportunity to build your miles and experience a mix of coastal cruising, fjord sailing and ocean passage making. We will start in Plymouth and after a day sail on the first day to Falmouth, head out into the western approaches. With prevailing westerly winds this is often a tough beat, before 'freeing off' around Lands End and reaching up the Irish Sea. As we approach the North Channel (the narrow passage between Ireland and Scotland) we will be studying the weather and deciding if it is suitable to set off on the 700 mile crossing to Iceland. Once clear of the Hebrides we will set our course for Heimay, a volcanic island 10 miles off the south coast of Iceland. Last year we spotted land 90 miles offshore with a glacier glistening in the sunshine, we hope to do the same again! After a stop in Heimay, we will continue west around the Reykjanes peninsula and then sail north to the westfjords, our favourite cruising area in Iceland.
