Portway Yacht Charters Göcek is a fully
bonded member of the Yacht Charter Association (YCA). This
not only ensures the financial security of any money you pay
for your holiday but also that our yachts will be equipped
to the YCA requirements. We are also a member of the British
Marine Industries Federation (BMIF), the Natioanl Federation
of Sea Schools (NFSS).
Göcek
Collecting your boat from Göcek means only a short transfer
(approximately 25 minutes from Dalaman International Airport)
and gives immediate access to some of the best and most picturesque
sailing areas the Mediterranean has to offer.
Göcek is a quaint, unspoilt village
in an idyllic locatio n
at the bottom of steep, pine clad mountains. The village has
many good waterfront restaurants and interesting little shops
selling antiques as well as locally crafted goods. This is
Portway's base. Your yacht will be moored in the marina with
all facilities nearby, including showers and toilets. Mini-markets
offer a variety of local produce ranging from fresh fruit
and vegetables to tinned and packaged items as well as imported
products. All stores will deliver to your boat free of charge.
Money can be changed at the post office and there is also
an international cashpoint machine. On arrival, you will be
met and shown to your boat, where staff will brief you and
go through hand-over procedures about your specific yacht
and the designated cruising area. Once this orientation has
been completed you are ready to set sail.
Your Cruising Area
Sunny skies, warm turquoise waters, cooling breezes, deserted
anchorages and tranquil bays are what you will find as you
sail along the southern coast of Turkey. Combined with the
warmth and sincerity of the people, spectacular scenery, fascinating
ruins from previous civilisations and delicious food - who
could ask for more!
The Mediterranean climate of southern
Turkey offers visitors sunshine and clear, blue skies almost
everyday from April to November. The coastline is a mixture
of wide gulfs, peaceful coves, shady beaches, uninhabited
islands, small villages and bustling towns. Many of these
locations are still only accessible by boat - truly a yachtsman's
paradise with constant and predictable winds offering ideal
sailing conditions for both the novice and the experienced
sailor alike. You will be welcomed wherever you go and shown
genuine, traditional hospitality. Turkish people adore young
children and go out of their way to give them special attention.
Communication is not a problem as most people speak adequate
English.
