Alfer Sea School was formed
in 2003 by two enthusiastic and professional Yachtmaster instructors.
Alfer aims to epitomise the ethos of the Royal Yachting Association
Cruising Scheme, at an overseas venue. The primary goals are
twofold; to provide sail training that is second to none,
and to ensure that their clients thoroughly enjoy their experience.
Alfer appreciates the breadth of the RYA syllabi and the diversity
of their clients' needs. To this end they endeavour to provide
bespoke training without compromise, and to maintain the highest
standards of customer care.
The Partners:
As Yachtmaster instructors they have extensive knowledge of
the skills necessary to cruise safely, efficiently and enjoyably.
When this is combined with their extensive teaching experience
and enthusiasm for the sport of sailing they are able not
only to impart the knowledge, but also the love of sailing
unto others.
Alan
Robinson, Principal of Alfer, was born in Gibraltar and spent
10 years sailing the local area, before moving to Southern
Spain where he has lived and sailed for the last 15 years.
He has a wide range of experience with both power and sail,
from 16 to 152 foot. Alan has sailed in the Mediterranean
as far as Malta and Tunisia, the English Channel, Biscay,
Gulf de Leon and the French coast. In total he has amassed
over 30,000 miles at sea, and has extensive knowledge of the
local area.
Fergus Anderson, Chief instructor of Alfer,
was born in the UK. His love of sailing and teaching has taken
him to remote locations such as the South China Sea, Australia,
Straits of Singapore, Biscay, the Greek islands and Northern
Europe. 5 years ago he moved to Gibraltar to teach and considers
it to be one of the best locations worldwide for sail training.
